The Seeds of Hope: International Peace Leadership Academy is located on the Corrymeela Community’s Campus in Ballycastle, Northern Ireland, UK.
Seeds of Hope: International Peace Leadership Academy is an international collaboration between the renowned Corrymeela Community in Northern Ireland, Universities, Peace Organizations, and Rotary Clubs around the world.
An Academy Like No Other: Seeds of Hope is a year-long course for 18- to 27-year-olds largely based upon the tenets found in Rotary International’s philosophy of Positive Peace. The experience develops students’ understanding of Peace and Reconciliation, and equips them with skills in public communications, organizational management, and other assets that will help them be more effective leaders in their communities.
Our Students: Students are selected by their Irish and UK communities to attend the Academy. These students are often already peace workers who have been recognized for making a difference in their disadvantaged and culturally divided communities. Students do not just study peace, they must apply it. Upon graduation, they continue to serve their communities, but with enhanced skills and effectiveness, while receiving support and mentorship from academy instructors.
Additional Summer Sessions: Seeds of Hope offers a 1- to 2-week Summer Learning Journey session open to students of all ages and backgrounds. Many Summer Session students are supported by their local universities and Rotary Clubs. The 2024 Summer Learning Journey welcomed 79 students, from ages 18 to 72, from 15 countries. The United States was represented by 19 “International Peace Scholars” from 5 universities!
